Tragic's Intergalactic Conquest or
All your base are belong to us...

Whilst reading Larry Niven's Ringworld, I'd asked for suggestions as to what to read next. Following up on your suggestions, I picked up a copy of two more of Niven's works, the Mote in Gods Eye and Footfall. Both of which were excellent reads, thanks for the suggestions. The problem is that these books have put me in an 'intergalactic conquest' frame of mind. I went digging deep into my boxes of old computer stuff and pulled out a dusty CD-ROM of Masters of Orion II. Hours have been wasted as I micromanage colonies and lay seige to the Klackon Empire. I think I'd make a good Governor Tarkin as I sail about the galaxy with my Doom Stars, blasting colonies with my stellar convertor and diplomacy be damned. Again I remind myself of why I must never allow a copy of Star Wars Galaxies to fall into my hands.

Did IQs Just Drop Sharply While I Was Away? or
Oh - You Have an MBA

One of the things you learn when you get out into the world is that competency is in short demand but there's a tremendous surplus of arrogance.

FedEx has a beautiful ad running that so illustrates the kind of crap so many of us have to put up with in our day to day lives. Thanks FedEx. You gave me a good laugh.

Go and enjoy the ad for yourself.

Our God Given Internet or
oh those wacky extremists...

If you've been surfing the net for any length of time, you've crossed paths with the Ladover Baptist Church. That their satire & parody site is often confused with being a real Baptist website either speaks volumes for how witty and creative the site's authors are... or makes you just down right afraid of the extreme fundamentalist Christians in the US... I'm still undecided.

Well, it would seem that the True ChristiansTM are a little put off by these parodies. As they put it, "The Internet was created by the United States of America - a Christian nation - and should not be used to spread anti-Christian, secular, or non-Christian propaganda." And so they want the Landover Baptist Church yanked offline. Among the True ChristiansTM strategies are prayer, attempting to have Landover included in all internet filtering software as a pornographic site, attempting to have Landover's ISP service terminated, their phonelines cut, their electricity turned off, and last - but by no means least - attempting to have that pesky First Ammendment done away with.

I have to say, it's been a while since I've run into anyone as satirically challenged as these particular True ChristiansTM. I'd love to write them off as a misdirected kooks, but with thousands visiting the site daily, something tells me that this group plans to do a little more than spread the Word by way of Bazooka Jesus®.

SETI @ Home or
I'm sorry, the planet you're trying to reach is not listening. Please hang up and try your call again.

There's a remarkable project out there called SETI@Home. You download the client from their site, and it churns away at the radio telescope data that's been collected, combing for a signal hidden amongst the noise.

Yes - I know you've heard of it. Everyone bombing around on the net has likely heard of it at one point or another. The real question is, why aren't you using it?

The day we make contact is the day that everything changes. It would be one of the most profound moments of mankind's existence. Go - download the client and help be a part of the greatest exploration man's undertaken.

Monster in the Closet has started it's run in TragicLad Theatre. Updates to come regularly on Thursdays and Fridays. I've heard from a couple of people, and so far it's a mix as to what the prefered method of delivery is - one giant chunk of story or panel at a time. But I still haven't heard what you would prefer. Drop me an email and let me know.

Tragic Blogs or
Starscream's Revenge

September 9th, 2003

Shortly after my print comic, Arcana bit the dust, I turned my pen to a couple of short, semi-autobiographical vignettes. Starscream's Revenge was a black & white mini-comic, printed at Pics Plus with an overwhelming print run of fifty copies. These I managed to sell off to friends, associates and to the few people I could pawn them off to at a local gallery showing. I recall my former art teacher purchasing one and proceeding to colour it in with watercolours. At the time I was a little taken aback... the defacing of literature is somewhat taboo for me, but that's for another blog ...but now that I'm beginning to colour it myself, I see what the attraction was. I would have to say that this was some of my strongest inking. Nice, crisp line work that easily lends itself to colouring.

This is a bit of an experiment for me, the whole regularly updating thing. I'm not sure how well the work comes across in a serialized form - especially when serialized one panel at a time - so please let me know what you think. Do you prefer a regular update or to get a complete tale whenever it's available? Drop me a line and let me know.

Just a reminder that Thursday will see the start of the next regularly updating story, Monster in the Closet.

Tragic Blogs or
Why the hell doesn't this site update... oh, wait. Never mind. It just did...

I know. I know. You swing away from your regular net surfing to check out my site and are dismayed to find nothing has changed since your visit last week. Now - I could write in the blog more frequently, but let's face it. I'm not that interesting a person. Whatever I may have to say, there's countless other blogger out there who've likely said it before I do and say it better. You came here for the comics, not the blog.

Well jinkies, if you really want comics then comics you should have.

Not one - but two regular updated comics will open in Tragic Lad Theatre. Mondays and Tuesdays will bring a little annecdote from my childhood, entitled, 'StarScream's Revenge'. Thursdays and Fridays will see another tale of childhood, 'Monster in the Closet'. So new things begin here tomorrow and almost every day thereafter.

Enjoy.
