oh those wacky extremists...

If you've been surfing the net for any length of time, you've crossed paths with the Ladover Baptist Church. That their satire & parody site is often confused with being a real Baptist website either speaks volumes for how witty and creative the site's authors are... or makes you just down right afraid of the extreme fundamentalist Christians in the US... I'm still undecided.

Well, it would seem that the True Christians^TM are a little put off by these parodies. As they put it, "The Internet was created by the United States of America - a Christian nation - and should not be used to spread anti-Christian, secular, or non-Christian propaganda." And so they want the Landover Baptist Church yanked offline. Among the True Christians^TM strategies are prayer, attempting to have Landover included in all internet filtering software as a pornographic site, attempting to have Landover's ISP service terminated, their phonelines cut, their electricity turned off, and last - but by no means least - attempting to have that pesky First Ammendment done away with.

I have to say, it's been a while since I've run into anyone as satirically challenged as these particular True Christians^TM. I'd love to write them off as a misdirected kooks, but with thousands visiting the site daily, something tells me that this group plans to do a little more than spread the Word by way of Bazooka Jesus®.
