Twitter Updates for 2009-03-18
- @CollinDouma No leads on definite demograph or active users, but found a trick for getting the current number of registered twitter users #
- @CollinDouma The url for a users RSS feed includes a number that is essentially your user number. Right now it’s at 24 million +. #
- Finished reading Watership Down to my little one - tonight we started in on The Hobbit. Not sure what he thinks of it all, but I’m luv’n it. #
- Of course, when he gets older if he ever reads them, he’s going to forever hear his dad’s voice doing bad british accents. #
- SciFi channel is rebranding as SyFy http://ur1.ca/2j0b Reason for rebrand is obviously TM + control issues. But core audience is not happy. #
- Your avg SciFi fan considers ’selves to be an int. and literate sort … so butchered phonetics & grammatically suspect taglines = FAIL #
- @Stephen_GM They claim Syfy is supposed to be phonetic match, but I find myself pronouncing it Sifee - like an abrv. for syphilis. #
- @CollinDouma np - but keep in mind that’s registrations, not active users. Whole lotta bots and people who abandoned it in that figure. #
- @CollinDouma HPLabs study of 300k users show 2/3 are active so, 15-16 million is a safe est. (tho if we weed out bots, I’d guess 10-12M) #
- Influx of users to twitter reminds me of SL a cpl yrs ago. You see the numbers go up,and hear a lot of hype, but its still the same ol thing #
- The ability to control who you see in the conversation will save Twitter from suffering the Eternal September. #
- @Bborissov10467 SL = Second Life. I was in there when it ballooned frm 100k users to 1M users. 3k online at once used to be big deal there. #
- @artiguing True enough. I have two accounts, as it is. Maybe the safest call at the moment is to say Twitter has AT LEAST 6-8 million users #
- @wefollow #measurement #socialmedia #geek #
