Illustration: Autumn Street Scene
Every now and then a work doesn’t quite make it through committee. Normally these pieces would fall to the wayside, never to see the light of day again. Fortunately the blog affords me the opportunity to share these works.
This work is 100% digital - no trees pulped in the production of this work - produced in Corel Painter using the pencil, watercolour, gauche and crowquill pen tools. Start to finish, this was about a few hours work.
What I’m most pleased with is just the overall ‘autumn’ feel of the colour scheme. I’m the first to admit that my sense of colour balance is not always the best. My early artistic career was focused exclusively on pen and ink work and I never had the patience to work with oil or watercolour in traditional media. When I work on the web I rely on some digital tools to assist in my colour scheming to avoid the look of a Pollok hitting a blender. But this time the pieces all nicely flew together with minimal call for the ‘undo’ button.
