Authenticity vs. Polish - Logitech on the YouTube

Take a moment and visit the page for the Orbit web camera from Logitech, click on the link that reads ‘View Demo’ and watch the short Flash intro for the camera. When it’s done come back here. Don’t worry, I’ll wait. . . . . back? okay.
Now take another moment and pop over to this video that’s been floating about You Tube. This is a high school girl who does a video blog and is responding to questions about the web camera she uses. Come on back when you’re finished. . . . . . okay then.
Now tell me. Of the two videos, which one made you want to run out and buy a web camera? Which of the two made you say to yourself - “kick ass, I’ve gotta get me one of those!”
The logitech video is very professional and extremely polished… but lacks authenticity. I would also kibitz and say the value of a camera is not in how it looks but how it performs. The company video shows you a lot of angles of the camera, but not once shows you the end result from the camera. bowiechick’s video shows every little feature of the camera and you see she’s having fun with it. It may not have perfect sound quality and the lighting isn’t optimal throughout, but it’s real.
I’ve said in the past that the best ad for your product is your product. Let me ammend that by saying the best advertisement for your product is someone enjoying your product.
